Kefalonia Day 2. Saturday 20th May 2017.
We woke late. It was perhaps to be expected. We had yesterday purchased enough grub for breakfast and with Vintage you always receive a welcome hamper. Whilst we all spent the day on our terrace, sunbathing and diving in and out of the pool the day ticked on and as is the way on these vacations, the men went shopping.
Down in Skala village, now very much a seaside tourist destination, we found the locally owned supermarket. A large room with smaller rooms branching off. Each stocked with various types of goods, from tins and dried goods to household items such as candles and ant insecticide to the finest single malts. A veritable Aladdin's Cave. We stocked up as per the list. Mike was in charge of the list and ably assisted by Callum pushing the trolley. Returning to the villa we found we had remembered the Mythos Greek Beer but to our horror had forgotten the girls Gin and Tonic! Quick as a flash Mikey jumped back into the car, returned downhill and was back up with the Gin before Paddy or I had time enough to pack away the rations and open a "tinnie".
The evening was somewhat fresh but did not prevent us from eating on the terrace. As dusk drew in, the goats started to head on down off the mountain, the neck bells clanging away and the lights of the houses across the valley started to appear, twinkling in the gathering gloom.
