Day 10.          Thursday 8th June 2017.      Mileage: 61  Total:  353

From:             St. Nazaire                      To:      Le Grand Bec, Mouettes

Weather:       Sunny. Hot 25’C

We departed St Nazaire in the mid-morning. During yesterday’s travels around the ZA we had spotted an Electronics shop. Akin to PC World. It was here we made our first stop. We bought a mini card and adaptor for the new camera and a case. At a fraction of the £50 they wanted for similar in England.

The exceptionally long St Nazaire bridge over the River Loire.

Our route South takes us over the magnificent and inspiring St Nazaire bridge. Off to our right we can see in the dockyard a new passenger liner being constructed. It's hull and superstructure are in place. And tiny figures are busying themselves across various parts of the ship.
Arrive at Jean des Monts. It has nothing that appeals to us. Another beautiful wide-open esplanade with miles of golden sands but the thousands of apartments in row upon row of high rise buildings is pretty horrendous. All clean, tidy and ultra modern. Might well appeal to familys but not us. We push on. Its nearing lunchtime.

At Le Grand Bec we spot an aire at Euros 6 for the night.  It will do. We know the beach can only be a hundred metres or so away. We park up, grab a quick sarnie and we're off to the beach with our swimmies. Here we stay till 1730hrs then make our way back to the one and only bar that is open.  We neck a couple of panaches before returning to the van. At least we won’t have the noise of the buses waking us in the morning the place is dead. Nothing is open. It seems impossible to us. All this lovely hot weather. In England much, if not everything would be open with visitors everywhere. Here in France it seems nobody takes a vacation till July and August and then it is absolute manic.

Avoid those periods.
