Morning Angie Tom and Audrey
As manager of our High Altitude
training camp in France I thought I would confirm our entrance, participation
and finish in the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sunday 27th May 2007. The weather
was good, although the pre start was very wet and cold but the sun came out for
the start gun and it became very hot in places. Many friends and family members
turned out to cheer / jeer at us around the 13.1 mile course and as one does
there are other faces in the crowds who you recognize and sometimes they you.
They also shout out words of encouragement such as "Oi you fat knacker wot
are you doing out there?" Words of encouragement that mean such a lot when
you are struggling up a long hill at Saltram gasping for air knowing you've
only completed 6 miles and there are another 7 to go. Mike finished in 2hrs 31
minutes with Jackie barely seconds behind me. Jackie managed to beat her
Wrigley MD home by quite a few minutes but cannot crow about it as I suspect
she will not return to a job at Wrigleys if she does. She also beat home 4 or 5
other younger members of the Wrigley team. The fastest guy home did it in 63
minutes. The Wrigley team raised some £6000 towards children’s charity. If you
go to www.thisisplymouth.co.uk and click on the Plymouth half marathon headline
story there is a short video attached you can see Mike and Jackie crossing the
start line at 6.30 minutes into the video. Look closely we are both wearing
dark blue t shirts and I am wearing the now famous Solignac Sky Blue Shorts.
Well that’s it. Week off this week. Well till Friday so off into the garden to
complete a few more tasks.
Love Mike and Jackie xxx
